sknyinside 99 Posted August 7, 2013 Neomycin, like most antibiotics, have a high likliehood of nausea. Especially on an empty stomach. I'm guessing it is a prophylactic treatment to prevent infection prior to surgery. If it is more than a one time dose, just make sure you take it with food or milk. But even then, it can still cause nausea. So sorry you're feeling yucky before your surgery!

I have nothing to coat my stomach with. I'm excited for my surgery tomorrow but I feel miserable too. Ugh!
sknyinside 99 Posted August 7, 2013 Call your MD's office. They may change antibiotics or give you a medicine to help with the nausea. It's a side effect, not an allergic reaction. But if it is really limiting your intake it's an issue. They likely have a MD oncall for tonight if it's after business hours. I would call. It will at least put your mind at ease. Kennedy 100 Posted August 7, 2013 Call. May be something common, but don't take a chance. Can you have broth? Ifso, something hot may help.
