auntyc 14 Posted August 7, 2013 So this morning i woke up with a sore throat and now my neck is starting to hurt. I immediately went out to CVS and bought Airborne and Coldez and saline nasal spray. I am hoping this will punch it outta me but what if it blooms into a full cold?! Will they cancel my surgery on Monday?! I looked it up and most said no, they will go on with it as long as you dont have a fever or are congested. I am so upset right now. What if they cancel or reschedule?! I have been through so much just to get to this point. ARGGGGGGG!!!!! Anyone had this problem?
TwinsMama 483 Posted August 7, 2013 I second what you've heard unless you have some other pre-ex condition that would cause them to be concerned. If this is just a cold or allergies, relax, get well, and even if you still have a bit of a bug, they'll prob still do the surgery. Also, it doesn't hurt to call your Dr and find out. I know you may not want them to know, but better to find out now than show up and be sent home (which I doubt).

SleevedJune62013 167 Posted August 7, 2013 I'd call the surgeon's office to see about possibly getting on antibiotics. I started feeling icky right before my surgery & ended up almost getting pneumonia after my surgery. They didn't cancel my surgery but all that coughing (& peeing) wasn't fun with a sore tummy. If they can nip it in the bud before that would be ideal. The Airborne & stuff is a great idea though. 1 TwinsMama reacted to this
ShrinkyDinkMe22 376 Posted August 7, 2013 i got sick 11 days before my surgery with a sinus infection. i felt it coming on and called my dr right away and asked for an antibiotic. normally i wouldnt of done that an i would have fought it out for a bit. but i was on a time crunch trying to get my surgery before the end of 2012 and did not want to reschedule. i know mine was a little longer time than yours but it cant hurt to call and ask if you can get some meds or find out what protocol is if you have a cold. 1 TwinsMama reacted to this

auntyc 14 Posted August 8, 2013 Thank you so much everyone!!! You all helped calm me down. I called the surgeons office and they told me to go to primary care doctor and get some antibiotics. They did say as long as I didn't have a fever on Monday I will be fine for surgery. My doctor got me started on a zpack. Plus I am still taking everything else. Hopefully this will be kicked our by Monday. Nothing like throwing in another loop in this journey!! 2 ShrinkyDinkMe22 and SleevedJune62013 reacted to this
