You may want to reach out to your Dr or Nut. What phase are you on? Sometimes we don't feel full or at least satisfied (which is preferable) until we start either pureed or solids.

My feeling of full is totally different then before surgery. Now I eat to feel satisfied. If I get to the full feeling then I feel miserable for a few hours. Like I do right now.

This united way campaign is going to be rough...

Santiago's Breakfast burritos, candy social, root beer float social, lunch ins, ice cream cart, doughnuts.... 5 weeks of this all right before my wedding...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

But do you feel satisfied after you eat dense Protein? The goal is no longer to feel full. It's to feel satisfied. Also how much are you eating at a time?

I can have a boiled egg and my stomach will still be growling. And two hours later it feels as if I didn't eat anything.

I'm 2.5 weeks out and just saw my Dr today. He said my goal for now is to eat 3-4oz of Protein per meal, taking between 20-30 minutes to finish. By the time I'm where you are, my goal is 3-4oz of protein with a small serving of vegetables as well. The goal isn't to feel full anymore, it's to feel satisfied. Perhaps 1 egg isn't enough and you can handle 2? Also, make sure you're getting your fluids in but waiting 30 minutes prior to eating and 30 minutes after eating to have a drink.

What about after chicken or fish? Red meat can be a bit harder to digest this early out. I only started eating red meat at three months. But if you try a moist chicken it might sit better.

Also some of the grumbly tummy might just be new tummy noises. I would look more for a feeling of being empty more then a grumbly tummy as a sign that you should eat. Another thing is your tummy is still healing. Nerves that were cut are still healing. So for a few more weeks at least I would measure everything and stop once that is finished. When you are more healed you will feel the restriction. One bite too many is a very uncomfortable feeling..... Especially on a healing tummy.

You're welcome, I hope the information you get here helps. A great support system is essential. I feel lucky to have found this board and I also have the support of my sister who had surgery almost 3 years ago. Good luck on your journey!

Yes, it's a blessing to have people to talk to. I really don't know anyone who had had the surgery so this form is the only way I can get tips and seek advise.

I do feel full but I can eat a good amount and then I'm hungry pretty soon thereafter. I find what is helping me is myfitnesspal app. I basically log everything that I put in my mouth. So I eat lots of small meals throughout the day making sure I don't go over my goals set for my food intake. Example, I can eat one slice of reduced fat cheese and 3 pieces of deli turkey meat. I get full then about an hour later I ate a 5 oz. Greek yogurt. For lunch I ate tuna creations 2.5 oz with a teaspoon of light mayo and 6 whole wheat pita chips. I average about 700-800 calories a day and am almost 1 month post op. some people say that is a lot but I have lost 19 lbs, lots of inches and it is working for me. Know your body and don't press the limits. It's learning all over again how to eat and make the most of your tool. Don't waste your intake on bad food. Protein, veggies then starch! You can do it!

I am 6 weeks out and I am not feeling full. Anyone out there with similar issues?

I had similar issues early on. Do you have an acid reducer? I found that a lot of my "hunger" and stomach noise was actually stomach acid. If your dr. didn't give you anything, Pepcid makes a chewable version.

Also, drinking too soon before and after eating can wash the food out sooner, and make you hungrier. Set your phone alarm for 30 min after eating and wait until it goes off. No sipping! You will find the thirst passes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
