1-week stall....REALLY?!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 7/19 I have a not lost weight since 7/30. It's been incredibly frustrating disappointing and aggravating. I started at 293.4 on surgery day and I'm at 283.2 today and over the last seven days I've seen it go as high as 286. I emailed both my NUT and the nurse and they both said it's normal and it will pass. But I'm beginning to wonder when?! It's been a week now!

I hear you, I'm there too. If its normal it seems to me they would tell you before surgery. I was not told. All I heard was amazing tales of massive loss and very quickly.

A stall between weeks 3-6 is VERY common. I think I read on here somebody said "it's your body wondering if this is another fad diet and holding out until you prove to it that this is the new normal".

I stalled for 4 weeks starting at week 2. Then had a great loss the 5th week and gained half that loss back again and haven't lost again since week 5. Yes ANOTHER 2.5 week stall.

I attribute the gain to the muscle I'm building doing my squat and arms challenges. I'm also down 2 sizes so I cannot complain. I'd rather lose the inches. I am wearing pants today that I haven't worn in years.

Don't worry about the stalls, they happen and other good things happen during them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
