NTL44 43 Posted August 7, 2013 So I was just sleeved on July 30th! And all has been going perfect. Until last night all of a sudden I started getting this sharp pain on my left side everytime I deeply breathe in underneath my rib cage. Could this be a sign of a leak? Has anybody else experienced this kind of pain? -- I have no other kinds of symptoms. Was just curious is anyone experienced this.
Richard Foor 655 Posted August 7, 2013 Any pain like this should be reported to your dr asap, that being said it could possibly just be a pocket of air stuck in there causing the pain so it may not necessarily be something bad but definitely call your dr and have it checked, and if you have a fever with it consider going to the ER. Good Luck. 1 TwinsMama reacted to this
NTL44 43 Posted August 7, 2013 No fever but I am not getting an achey left shoulder. It's the only symptom I'm receiving that could point to a leak. But I had bad shoulder pain right after surgery due from all the air trapped. My surgeons office isn't open for another 20 minutes so I'm just sitting here panicking! gmanbat 5,889 Posted August 7, 2013 Could be some lingering gas. Hang in there and see what doc says. 1 TwinsMama reacted to this
NTL44 43 Posted August 7, 2013 Could be some lingering gas. Hang in there and see what doc says. Thanks! I called and I'm just waiting for a response. The pain has actually stopped within the last 20-30 minutes or so but it would be nice to find a reasoning behind it.
EMSJen 6 Posted August 7, 2013 Definitely get it checked out... that was the first sign of my leak... the second was EVERYTHING I tried to eat or drink made me nauseous. I hope its just a gas pocket for your sake... leaks are traumatic to say the least!
TwinsMama 483 Posted August 7, 2013 Sounds like gas, that was exactly what happened to me. Mine then spread to my entire back and other shoulder. Please let us know what you find out.
NTL44 43 Posted August 7, 2013 Well my surgeon called back and wasn't concerned about it being a leak because i do not have a fever and I'm tolerating my diet no problem. The pain went a way for a while too. But now everytime I take a deep breathe I get a sharp pain that just radiates from my shoulder to my rib cage and kind of in my back. It's just odd and really painful but honestly doesn't feel sleeve related anymore.
NTL44 43 Posted August 8, 2013 There aren't a whole lot of other symptoms that could point to a pulmonary embolism. I'm going today to get it checked out. Thanks guys!
NTL44 43 Posted August 8, 2013 So Barbie they did test for a clot just in case, after labs and X-rays and a ctscan. It came back negative!! Thank goodness. Hoping it is just gas pains. Thanks for the help everyone. 2 Laceyvsg and TwinsMama reacted to this
gmanbat 5,889 Posted August 8, 2013 Gas is not a gas. My quickly rushing in heartburn is gas, not acid, I am sure. I got a gas/antacid combo just to be really sure.
