My name is Mckenna am 25years old and live in texas. I currently have the realize band and have been having so many complications and I am going on about 5 years with it now. Since my problems have Been getting worse I finally said enough is enough and I am doing a revision to have the sleeve done the same day my band is taken out. Because of my complications I don't have to go through the waiting period I met with my surgeon today and after my nutrition meeting tomorrow I am all set to go as soon as the team or docs review my case because I use a center of excellence. If anyone could inbox me or comment with your wisdom or experiences with your sleeve that would be great! Thank you!

Just wander through the site, there's a whole bunch on band to sleeve revisions. As in all things, some have difficulties, some none, and most somewhere in-between...

Welcome! I'm 26 from Minnesota and I was sleeved 9 days ago. Everything is going great for me. There is soooo much helpful information on here you will be on info overload trying to read it all!

My biggest advice is to follow the nutritional plan your surgeon and NUT have for you after surgery. Everyone seems to be advanced at different rates but just follow what your told by your own...

Good luck!!

How much are you down and how is your toleration with liquids and walking and doing day to day activities

I'm down 17 with preop diet, 7 being post op. Liquids are slow going, but doable. My NUT gave me an hourly eating/drinking schedule that really helps me to males sure I get everything in these first few weeks. It was really difficult in the beginning because I felt so bloated! I felt like I couldn't fit anything else in my stomach cavity (not necessarily my sleeve). GasX is a miracle worker!! There is a lot of learning by trial and error the first few days. You will figure out what is too much and when you've had too much. Make sure you listen closely!

Walking is great!!!! Besides meds it was/is the best thing for pain! My first night, I walked about every 1-2 hr because I would wake up with chest/shoulder and gas pressure. Walking helped me so I could go back to sleep. For me the pain wasn't terrible, unless I twisted or bent wrong.

As for daily activities... I was in the hospital 2 days. My first few days i spent at home focused on drinking, walking, and sleeping. it was nice not to be woken up for vitals! I started driving myself day 6. Day 5 I spent at a family get together. Other daily activities have been normal with minimal bending, twisting, and lifting. I have my boyfriend to do those for me :-). I have 2 dogs that I'm not walking again yet... They are 50 lbs and 30 lbs so they could do some damage if they pull...

I'm a teacher, so I didn't have to start work yet. I did have a training today. It was fine. It was actually harder to be sitting for so long.

When do you think you will have the surgery?

Sorry it has taken me so long. To respond I think I finally figured out how to check the replies on here. My surgery is actually today I'm in preop and I bought gas x strips and it took them 4 sticks to get my IV in so this has been an adventure. How are you doing now that it has been a while?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
