My first post here, been reading for months. Seems a lot of people posting are in the medical field. I thought it would be cool to hear what fellow sleevers do for a living.

The wife and I are both Respiratory Therapists here in Michigan. I am just starting this journey with my 8 hour information seminar ( pre-op ) scheduled for later this month. My better half was sleeved the end of April. She is doing awesome. Down 84 lbs total including the pre-op weight loss.

Im so excited to get my life back after getting this incredible weight loss tool.

Hope to hear from you guys.

I am also a Respiratory Therapist in Ohio. Just graduated from my program in May and just started my new and very 1st therapy job this week!

I wish you lots of luck on your surgery! I think you made the right decision. I had mine on march 5. It was a great decision for me. I have no idea how much I lost because I don't go on scales but I've gone from a size 18 (almost a 20) to a size 14 ( almost a 12) since march. I must admit I thought my weight loss would have been constant and extreme, but it wasn't that way. I lost the most the first 6 weeks while eating nothing but Clear liquids to mushy foods ( like yogurt, apple sauce, grits.. Etc) but then I started eating solid foods but at a slower rate. I reached a plateau where it seemed that I wasn't loosing anymore.. So I decided to get on a treadmill. THAT decision made all the difference!! I have more energy, I'm getting fit, I'm building some muscle, and I feel so much younger!!! The surgery will get you to the plate- but it's up to you to hit the home run!!! GOOD LUCK!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
