Sorry, shoulda finished reading posts before duplicating.

My hubby spends a lot of time surfing USAJOBS as he's federal and we've been through the process many times. Gotta move to move up, so to speak. He could answer questions if you want to PM me.

Ha! Hate when I do that! :)

Medical Technologist, or lab geek for those who don't know what an MT is. When they say they're sending your ______ for testing, that's me doing the testing. LOL. I noticed a large number of medical people had had this done too while i was getting all my pre-op treatment done. Every doctors office I went to had someone in it who had surgery.

I was reading a study this morning..

55% of nurses are overweight or obese..

my profession ??? I am of the oldest profession

(Not that! get your minds out of the gutter <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />)

I am a mom and a wife. The woman on the block that all the other women send there kids to after school if they are stuck at work..

So much for ...

"If a man will not work' date=' he shall not eat" (2 Thess 3:10)[/quote']

You have a great and much needed job. Working

(Away from home) moms need someone like you who can and is willing to be their when they can't. The best thing for children is to have mom at home. But now days even more so that's not always an option. So thanks for being there.

I'm thankful that we have so many nurses in here. If this were not the best WLS procedure, the nurses would know that. Being pre-op, it's reassuring that I've chosen the right path.

My reason for being and most important job is mother to three amazing sons. They are 13, 9 and 4. My other full time job is as a speech pathologist in a nursing home. I've worked with geriatric patients for 18 years and I see the effects of obesity in the later years. Later being relative. We've had a recent run of people in their 40's and 50's who have had strokes related to weight, high blood pressure and diabetes. It's not pretty and I plan to do whatever it takes to avoid it. Nothing depresses me more than seeing a young person that I know for sure is going I be living in the nursing home starting in their 50's. That is a horrible sentence. I commend all of us on here who are fighting the good fight and trying to improve our odds. It's worth it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
