3 weeks post op GAINED 2lbs

Recommended Posts

I am 22 days post op and I feel as if my weight lose has come to a halt. I was 227 pre op and 218 day of surgery. 2 days ago I was 203 and now I am 205. I started soft foods at 2 weeks per doctors instructions. I saw that the scale was not dropping so I went back to liquids for those 2 days and that's how I got to 205. I even did Zumba but my shoulder muscles are inflamed and I believe I am pinching my nerves because my fingers are going numb. Anyways I feel like I can eat a lot more and drinking Water has become quite easy. I am scared my sleeve has stretched or I won't be losing anymore weight. Pls can someone help.

Search "3-week stall" on this forum and you will quickly see that what you are experiencing is incredibly (almost universal in fact) common. Know it is frustrating, but trust us, you will lose more weight. Stick with your plan and it will be fine.

shoulder muscles are inflamed - pinching my nerves because my fingers are going numb

teeniesleeve10

as nicely as i can say :) .....

at 22 days, and not feeling terrific

STOP,STOP doing Zumba or anything else that might hurt

you always must listen to your body

pinched nerve, shoulder muscles inflamed

your body is telling you to be careful - take it easy!!!!

many people have trouble drinking Water at your early stage

be happy that you can drink easily :)

drink, sip slowly (don't gulp yet)

your tummy is still in the healing process

be nice to "it", and "it" will be nice to you :)

you feel you can eat more????

at 3 weeks, what are you eating??

i was on puree at 3 weeks

but i know all NUTS are different

whatever you have been told you can eat, great - don't overdue though :)

you won't feel any restriction in your little tummy til you are on soft foods, but mainly once you start solids

many NEWBIES are afraid they stretched their stomach - trust me you didn't - you can't

many sleevers at one point or another think they won't loose any more weight :(

hun, you just started your weight loss journey!!!!

i see B) you will lose much more weight on the road to a healthier, happier, longer life

good luck

kathy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
