Disgusted.

I am still pre op. insurance requires 3 month supv weight loss program and I am 1.5 months into that. First month I lost 5 lbs. i thought that was great for me considering my eating habits were atrocious and I all but killed my metabolism. I was only eating once a day, usually around 6 - 8 pm at night with 2 cups of coffee in the morning. Maybe once or twice a wk I would get a sandwich chips and soda at about 2 am.

Then I started month 1 of the supv diet. I actually expected to gain weight the first month, while my metabolism was attempting to find itself, but miraculously, I lost the 5 lbs. now here I am 2 weeks into the 2nd month and I dont feel like I lost an ounce. My clothes still feel the same fit as always so it isnt that I may be losing inches.

The thing is, I wont weigh myself since no 2 scales are the same. I am just waiting until my appt with the NUT to get weighed and find out. I just feel nothing is happening. I even started walking, ALOT, and as soon as I recuperate from an awfully painful pinched nerve, I plan on adding another form of exercise.

I think I am just feeling sorry for myself and wanted to vent.

You seem o be doing fine. A lot of people don't lose weight on their preop bc thy are afraid of going to a lower BMI and being denied. Just stick to it and you will be more healthy for surgery even if the weight doesn't come off. Good luck!

Oh and it's ok to vent, we are here for support. Just don't get stuck there for your own benefit. ;)

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. I have no choice but to stick with it. This is a lifestyle change and I might as well do right by myself now, so I will be well used to it post op.

I was such a pepsi addict that I think cutting out the soda completely and reducing my coffee to one a day just rubbed me the wrong way today.

Tomorrow I will keep on keeping on.

I love your plan to keep on keeping on! :D

You are really similar in weight to me when I had surgery a month ago, and honestly, I'm only just now starting to notice my clothes a little looser--and that's 24 pounds down from my start weight. And from what I hear, it will be about 30 pounds down before friends and family will start to notice!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
