pureed stage calories, etc.

Recommended Posts

I am in the pureed stage and although I received info from a nut from Mexico, she was not specific about how many calories, carbs, fats, and Proteins are needed at this stage after surgery. Anyone have a little more specific info. I am in a stall and it is frustrating. Sleeved 7/16 and only have lost 12 pounds. Thanks in advance.

My only instructions were 50-60 grams of Protein daily and 60 oz of Water. I track calories and I'm getting 550-650 daily. My surgery date is the same as yours and I've been in a stall for nearly a week and a half.

At this stage you really do not need to be worrying about the calories, or fats. you need to make sure you are getting enough Protein, I have always stuck with greater then 70 but opinions vary. Also make sure you are getting at least 64 oz of non caffeinated fluids. If you drink any caffeine you need to increase your fluids accordingly. As for carbs I wouldn't worry so much about a number on them as of yet but just try to make good choices that are low in carb numbers. Good Luck.

Thank you. It is all so confusing and I know the healing is most important. I am in a hurry and should not be.

As they say think of it as a journey and not a race, slow and steady and enjoy the scenery along the way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
