Got my op date - October

Recommended Posts

I went to my doctor yesterday and got my operation date. It will be October 15th. I'm a little nervous but looking forward to it. Who else has an October date?

to all of you keep following up call your insurance provider and ask for a status. Often times the approvals have gone through but have not reached the physicians office yet. I had my surgery 10/29/12 down 87 pounds still have a ways to go but would do it again in a heart beat. Hang in there and be persistent with your insurance and docs office.

I haven't booked my surgery yet. Still a little nervous. Any advice?

I'm not one to have any great advice, but what I'm doing is trying to turn it over to God and follow him where I feel he is leading me. I'm nervous about it because it is going to be a huge change and I've never had major surgery before. My relationship with food has changed over the pay few months and after surgery it will significantly change. I'm happy and at ease because I'm being lead in a healthier direction and that is better for me and everyone around me.

I am waiting on my doctors scheduler to call to schedule my surgery. Its been over two weeks since my insurance approved my surgery. The longest wait has been waiting on the doctors staff. Trying to stay positive. Just a little annoyed...but all in GODS time. That's what I keep telling myself.

My surgery is Monday 26th... So excited! Only all I have to do is a 3 day liquid diet. Does that seem right?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
