feel like I am eating to much but not sure

Recommended Posts

HI everyone

I am almost a year post op and I have lost 30+ lbs since surgery but since I started this journey I have went from 270 to 205 and now my weight loss is going slow. I am trying to figure out why it is going so slow. I am working out and getting my Water in. I am scared that I have stretched my stomach cause I am noticing that I can eat more than when I first come home from having the surgery. I feel so good with having the weight off I don't want to do anything to make the weight come back on. If anyone can give me any help on how to get the weight loss to start back up again I would greatly appreachiate it. I have about 60 lbs more to lose before I will be at my goal.

Don't worry about stretching your sleeve. That's not likely... what's more likely is slider foods and liquids with meals makes it APPEAR that the sleeve has 'stretched'. Have a diet/eating and activity plan abd stick to it. Work with the NUT to modify as needed... and it will go slower as you get closer to goal, at least that's what the 'long-termers' say!

Are you still writing down everything you eat? If not, that might give you an idea of what might need to change diet-wise.

The only way for you to know is to weigh and measure everything, and track your intake. You should probably have some rules from your docs office. Mine is no more than 3/4 cup of food, and about 600-800 calories at about 8 months out. I am not sure what it should be at a year. The other thing is not grazing - ever. So, if you feel like you are eating too much, you might be, but won't know until you add it all up.

How much Protein are you getting. I was stalled for months so my nutritionist told me at 9 months I should be getting 80 grams of protein a day. Started loosing again after that change.

Thanks for all the responses, I am not actually sure of how much Protein I am getting. I know it is something over 24 grams a day. I do some grazing as well. I am getting 8 glasses of Water in a day. I think the idea of meeting with someone to chat about my eating pattern would be a good idea as well. Do any of you guys use my fitness pal or lose it.

I use myfitnesspal and I love it. Really makes me pay attention to what I eat and gives me a reference to look at if my weight fluctuates.

24 grams of Protein doesn't seem like enough. My doctor advised 70-80 GM of Protein. Could that be your problem?

24 grams is definitely not enough! You need 70-80g per day. I would go back to basics, do two Protein Shakes a day, Breakfast and lunch, and a high Protein, low carb healthy dinner. Journal your food and see where the problems lie.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
