Im truly hungry. Emailed my nurse on Fri and asked if I could start soft foods a week early (on wk 3 of 4 full liquids). Got her response back today. NO.

Split pea Soup, Jello, and pudding were yummy the first 3 wks, but not any more. It amazes me that some people r eating regular food while im still on full liquids. And no, im not gunna cheat. My husband is the Food Nazi and would tattle on me in a heartbeat. He had the nerve to ask me if I ate the last piece of bacon. I wish.

Some full liquid suggestions (other than sf je.lo, pudding, yogurt, cream Soups, and popsicles) r welcome...

What about potato Soup (Imagine makes a really good one in a box in the soup aisle)? You could also try Kiefer thinned out with a little soy milk and some Torani Syrup added. hot chocolate with Protein powder--just make sure the temp of the liquid isn't too hot when you add the protein--just a bit above lukewarm. Can you do pureed bean soup or is that considered a soft food? Maybe you could ask your RD if you could do that if it was thinned out with some veggie stock. The full liquid stage is the worst--sending you positive thoughts. Hopefully it will go quickly.

I couldn't stand canned Soups. I got the flavor packets outta the ramen noodle packages and just used those. I added non-flavored Protein when the liquid had cooled enough. I was given extra time on liquids because of a hiatal hernia repair. I almost cried! But remember, this is a very short amount of time in the whole scheme of things.... Your journey is just beginning.

You may also be hungry because of not enough Protein. Try adding non-flavored protein to your soups. But it might also be stomach acid. I have had a big problem with the acid and have had to double up on the prescription that was given me. But when the acid is high, I so seriously want to eat everything in sight, even though I can only have a bite. :0)

Good LUCK!

Unjury chicken Soup is a perennial favorite for the full liquids stage. also, beef consomme, low sodium Tomato Soup, V8, blendered leek & potato soup, and adding Unjury unflavored Protein to any soup makes it legit for your protein count.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
