Hi all, nice to be here. i am planning on getting pregnant but don't want to wait another year or so to get banded. i have read a few positive experiences from women who have kept their band and had healthy babies - any other comments?

on a personal note, since going clean and sober 14 years ago, the pounds have gone up every year - scrawny addict in 93, 275 lbs today. right now, i feel like i did when i gave up using - like something in my head has finally clicked and i know what i have to do to live a strong and healthy life. back then, i didn't know how to ask for help and now, i know how to ask and receive it.

plan is to travel to PV and have Dr Joya do the procedure January 25. i have family and my partner allison is coming with me.

i have shed all the emotional and spiritual baggage i can and now it is time for the physical to go. i feel like i am walking around carrying all this scar tissue from the past. pounds and pounds of it. the only fear i have is about feeling vulnerable without all this fat between me and the world!!! HA - bring it on!!!!!!!!!

thanks for listening

ella

Ella, welcome. I'm glad you found us. It sounds like an amazing healing journey you're on.

You're surgery date is coming up soon. Good luck with it.

You might want to check out the Canadian threads in the regional forums, too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
