What's the worst thing someone said to you?

Recommended Posts

I was out with friends one evening and a man approached me. He said I don't mind your weight I like big girls. I was blown away. First of all I am married and was not looking to hook up secondly, after that who on earth would have gone with such a person?

Also I was working in my flower garned one day when a car of teenagers drove by and one of them yelled hey big butt. I still hate working in the front yard.

reading this thread reminds of things that have been said to me. its great to have a place we can go to talk about these things!

this thread also reminds me of a movie i watched on monday its called "just friends" its a comedy about a boy that was overweight in high school and his best friend was a girl and he had a crush on her, he told her he liked her in her yearbook and it got into the hands of a jock and he humiliated the chubby guy in front of everyone, long story short he moved away lost all the weight, saw the girl again and she wants him! in my opinion he shoulda said.. um i dont think so.. but of course not! ya'll gotta see it, its actually really funny!

My big sister who is "normal size" introduced me to a lady that has been going to the gym where we go. (I hadn't been going lately because of a health issue with my hand) My sister said this is my little sister and that lady who is 5 foot nothing and well over 200 lbs had the audacity to look me up and down and then at my sister and said Yeah Right! I just looked at her and walked away. Then I teared up and my sister came over and I told her that was not pleasant introduction and she said we just have to ignore people like that. Well,I told her just give a few more months and I'll be a statuesque 5'10" very proud woman and she will still be overweight and rude! Why is it acceptable for people to say such hurtful things with no thought of it being rude?

I remember I had to make an appointment for a gall bladder ultrasound for a routine test. Anyway, I called my local hospital to set up the test; and when it came to giving my weight, it was "we can't do your test here, you are over the weight limit our table holds. You have to go to another hospital." They couldn't hold someone that was only FOUR POUNDS over the limit? :rolleyes What really chapped my behind was me wasting ten minutes on the phone only to be told I'd have to call somewhere else! Why didn't they tell me this stuff before wasting my time with the questions? Sheesh.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
