LifetimeLoser 208 Posted August 5, 2013 I am really unsure of what you are alluding to. I went back and looked at locked posts and they were all around the same thing..not making fun of other members which included some specific items like language' date=' duplicate posts etc. So what other offensive behavior has been allowed? If you want to talk about offensive behavior...then ya'll's chat room conversations which routinely deal with sex, masturbation and I believe an anal posting if I saw that correctly today I would call offensive. I have however learned how to leave chat..so it is the same concept..don't read it if it offends you.[/quote'] I have seen a lot of name calling without repercussions. To me that is the extreme of making fun of someone, but that is my perception which is my point. Offensive things shouldn't be the perception of a couple people, but that is what it is. I wouldn't know about the chat rooms as I do not enter there for many reasons. Way to accuse the wrong person of something you thought you saw that was offensive. Good job! (Sarcasm). I read many things that I do not agree with. By reading only things you agree with one will never learn anything new or different or have a chance at open mindness. It is very difficult to not read something that is offensive. Actually quite impossible I think. I will only know if it offends me if I actually read it. If I don't read it, then I won't know either way of it would offend me or not BECAUSE I DIDN'T READ IT. By that mentality and logic I should just not read anything for the mere possibility that it MIGHT offend me. 1 Spatters3 reacted to this
*susan* 1,709 Posted August 5, 2013 Is it possible to get "kicked out" for chat room behavior? Just curious. Absolutely, but it has to be reported, or a message sent to Alex or myself with a screen shot of what you find offensive. Sent from my iPad using VST
No game 14,437 Posted August 5, 2013 Ok' date=' so asking people to do a little bit of research before posting is not ok. But people attacking each other over religion is. Got it.[/quote'] I didn't see any attacks on the religion thread?? It seemed more like a debate to me... Did I miss something? Absolutely' date=' but it has to be reported, or a message sent to Alex or myself with a screen shot of what you find offensive. Sent from my iPad using VST[/quote'] Chat room! Why is it even there?!? (That's my rant) 1 clk reacted to this
clk 3,519 Posted August 5, 2013 Vets get their posts locked, too, and because we break the rules (clearly stated and stickied) - it has nothing to do with how long you've been here. I got shut down once for a long, sarcastic rant much along the same lines. It's against the rules. On the same token, if someone is posting things that someone else finds offensive, they should report it. You can't expect the mods to babysit everyone here over every single disagreement. Frankly, I'd rather see less censorship than more, so I'd ask that people control themselves better. I've seen some posts degrade into absolute nonsense and namecalling over something as ridiculous as whether or not it's okay to eat a cheeseburger or eat carbs. Seriously, we're not children. I completely get OPs frustration - both with being locked and with the posts here. But that's how it is. I just skip the posts that sound like something I don't want to read or I don't respond if it's something not worth my time or effort. Someone else is always willing to jump in, so there's no need for me to feel personally vested in the forums here. ~Cheri 6 *susan*, lizv123, Beach Lover and 3 others reacted to this

LifetimeLoser 208 Posted August 5, 2013 I didn't see any attacks on the religion thread?? It seemed more like a debate to me... Did I miss something? I saw a few. One part calling everyone who didn't support the Christian thread bigots. Another likening talking to atheists as a former experience talking to someone in a mental institution. There were lots of attacks on both sides of the thread. I also commented on that thread just trying to make a point that it was a topic that would start a lot of controversy. And it did. Tink22-sleeve 528 Posted August 5, 2013 For me, the chat room is another social network. i get to socialize with other people who have had, or will be having VSG. Unlike posting in the forums (which i do), i can get an instant response and support when i need it. its also fun to hang out there and answer other peoples questions. Yes, its often off topic of VSG. Yes, the language and topics are sometimes questionable. But it is still a relatively safe place to get support and hang out with some fun people- night or day. Dont knock it unless youve tried it 2 ashleyxx and southernsoul reacted to this
Tink22-sleeve 528 Posted August 5, 2013 OH! i think the dots relate to how many posts you have made in various topics. the more dots, the more posts. so post away and "level up" lol

I guess I missed the name calling because quite honestly i didn't read it all... my grand pappy told me to never discuss religion or politics (oh and the great pumpkin) 2 LifetimeLoser and Ms.AntiBand reacted to this
Alex Brecher 10,515 Posted August 6, 2013 The dots or pips are based on the number of posts you have. Here's a list of our Member Titles/Ranks: We've been crystal clear that we do not allow topics created with the purpose to Rant and Rave about members. What exactly is so difficult to understand about this concept ? Susan isn't picking on anyone whatsoever and I'm getting a little tired with all the whining as of late I would allow a total free for all in the R&R forum or across the entire forum for that matter....if we were an automobile forum. We happen to be a forum for people where a majority of them have been bullied, physically abused or sexually abused. I'm sorry but we're not going to help perpetuate the name calling, nastiness and hate. 21 *susan*, Richard Foor, Wayless and 18 others reacted to this

LifetimeLoser 208 Posted August 6, 2013 l... my grand pappy told me to never discuss religion or politics (oh and the great pumpkin) your pappy was a very smart man. I also try not to discuss those two things because people on every "side" of that circle are very passionate and emotional about his side...doesn't make for much of a discussion when the emotion gets in there...then its a cat fight...meowwwww 2 No game and *susan* reacted to this
