I'm guessing you meant 2012 :) Have you tried increasing your exercise and reducing your calories? The first year or so the weight will slowly just fall off but after that the sleeve is only a tool to be used along with the correct diet and exercise to get the results you want.

Before you get banded, track your calories for a week strictly, see what changes you can make, then implement them for the next week. See if that helps. You might be experiencing a stall. If so, look into tips for fixing a stall. I would talk to your surgeon first before undertaking another serious surgery, especially only over a year out from your last one.

A lapband isn't the answer. Just take a look in the "band to sleeve" forum here. The band is a world of problems that will only make things harder. You need to do what you and your surgeon decide is best, but please be aware of the multitude of complications that come with the band alone. I can't imagine those get any better when banding a sleeve. :-/

There's some good info on this forum about managing long stalls. Stay away from the lapband.

Would a reputable dr even do that procedure? Your stomach is already so small it takes effort to get enough nutrition to keep you healthy.

I have heard of band over plication which would be somewhat similar. The problem I see is that the purpose of the band is to restrict and limit calories when it is working properly. Since you are already doing that how does your doctor expect the band to help? Perhaps there is something going on that makes you someone who truly needs a malabsorptive procedure? Also as someone who suffered terribly with the band I say ask your doctor what happens if that band slips and erodes the little bit of stomach you have left? Not as uncommon as they'd like you to believe. Where would that leave you in terms of options? I agree you need a docs opinion but maybe a couple of them.

Do not think they band over sleeve. They DO bypass over sleeve, however.

You might want to get on a calorie tracking software like myfitnesspal that will allow people you "friend" to review your daily menu choices. It is on iPhone, androids, pc, etc and is free. Also, you would be able to look at what your friends are eating and what kind of results they are having. Going back to surgery is a major deal, so exhaust every other option first. Good luck.

LuLu

you made the wise decision to have the sleeve :)

you've done well

the first 7+ months you lost 73 lbs :)

thats great

i can only imagine that it must be frustrating being at a stall for 6 months!!!!

it does sound like you are doing everything right :)

exercising, eating properly (trying to up and down the calories) you didn't mention the Water situation - but you are probably following those rules too?

as art said - they do the sleeve to gastric bypass

IMO having a gastric bypass is never a good idea (thats why i/we all chose the sleeve)

gb has malabsorption problems, messing with your intestines - no thank you - not for me

but.........the procedure has been done

my doc said the days of the lapband are going, going almost gone!!!!!

there are so many problems with the lapband - as OP have mentioned!!!

i don't even think they would do a lapband over the sleeve

i have heard of people stalling for a llllllllllong time

but i agree that 6 months must feel like an eternity!!!!

but what's 6 months+ in a lifetime???

you're a "young un" ;) at 27 years old

as they say - you have a "lot of living to do ;) "

keeping up your hard work - the weight will come off - eventually

sorry its taking so long - your sad feelings are understandable

but don't give in, being upset, then head for the refrigerator and fast food places

you've worked very hard - you know what to do!!!!!

talking with the doc/nut is good

OP suggestions to track calories et al, drinking, Protein et al

support groups are helpful too

come back here and get more support - that's why they "pay" us the big bucks :D

good luck

kathy

Has your doctor checked your thyroid or any of the other blood tests that might indicate a separate issue here? What about your cortizol levels? You may want to pay a visit to an endocrinologist in tandem with your surgeon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
