When did you start sleeping on your left side after surgery? I am a side sleeper and I usually sleep on my left side but it is still a little tender and I don't want to hurt anything in my tummy!!

I am a total belly sleeper. I was sleeved on July 22nd. I take a king pillow and nestle it to my abdomen and slightly turn to either side to get some rest.... try it, it will be a little tender, but every night gets a little less painful.

It was about two weeks for me, and I am also a side sleeper. I had one incision on the right side of my stomach that felt like a knife in my gut no matter what I did and the only position I could sleep in was sitting up on the couch for the first two weeks. It wasn't fun, but before I knew it I was back in my bed sleeping like normal.

About night 4, but I did use plows to prop comfortably.

I am a stomach sleeper and as of sat I have been able to sleep on my stomach (sleeved 7-19). The past couple of nights have been the best nights if sleep I've had in two weeks.

Side sleeper here, 3.5 weeks out of surgery. I can lay on my left side for awhile, but not more than 20 minutes. The right is a whole other story. 2 minutes on that side and I am a mess. Hurts like a bugger, and I am all out of good pain drugs, so I don't mess with it. Been mostly on my back, which I am still not used to, but it is better than laying on my side and hurting.

I alternate between my side and my stomach and I woke up on my stomach my first night home from the hospital. I would also sleep on my side with a pillow pushed up under my back so I was resting on it instead of my incision.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
