lextran500 6 Posted August 5, 2013 I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery on April 3, 2013.... Today is August 4, 2013. I have lost a total of 102 lbs. I am blown away along with everyone who knows me. I started at 325lbs and now in just a little over 16 weeks, I am at 223lbs. NOTHING SHORT OF INCREDIBLE! I did want to share what I feel were 2 keys to my success for anyone thinking of having the surgery..... #1 biggest thing... Exercise.. even if I is 20 minutes a day.... Since a week after my surgery, I have worked out approx. 45-60 minutes a day-- walking 1-2 miles on the treadmill and then upper body weights lot of reps.... #2, a very supportive wife. She was and is there with me every step of the way....but has not smothered... she was there to listen and offer suggestions when I asked for them. She made everything feel really normal, when in reality, she was seeing me melt away and likely was a little panicked. .My journey has been a little mentally challenging.... I was surprised that I am never hungry... I need to remind my self to eat--- PROTINE, PROTINE, PROTINE!!!! It is a must!!!! Hydrate--- a lot of Water is needed every day. I had a couple of days where I got dehydrated and had the symptoms. It is a change of life, you have to learn how to live differently...... But I have absolutely NO REGRETS! Good luck to anyone that takes the leap. It is quite a wild ride!
