Don't chuck him out just yet. If he is a gourmet chef he could come in handy when solid foods are back on the menu.

I used to laugh at those pitiful portions on the food network chef competition shows. They look about right now. :D

Newbie, I'm sorry you're going through all of this. It is bad enough that the first week to 4 weeks are tough that you have to make these new adjustments to eating but, to have a passive aggressive chef on board who is not supporting you, you should kick 'em to the curb. I haven't had my surgery yet but, reading these forums are very helpful to me to know what to expect before my first appointment to the Nutritionist, psychologist, and Dr. Appointments. Stick with this forum and reach out as often as you can. Use your other resources such as your doctor and nutritionist, etc... Good luck to you and remember why you did the surgery and what you know the end result will be... Don't give up!!!

I def do not regret having had the surgery. It is very hard right now but not as hard as chemo, dialysis or immobility, all of which are on the alternative list. This lifestyle change was not his choice. Its being forced upon him and he will make his own decision in the end. Probably from the bottom of the sleigh riding hill when im at the top. I love him and hope he makes the climb.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
