OK Aug 5-ers, sending out some good ju-ju, I can't believe this is happening in less than 24hrs

Well I did my pre-shopping this morning. Gas-x check, G2 check, crystal light check and so on........my bag is packed and I do have my chapstick handy. Also charging my ipod and kindle devices.

I have been fairly calm and not too anxious,. This morning I had a flash of me walking into the surg suite and my stomach dropped a few feet. It must be trying to wrap around my spine and hang on for dear life! Poor thing, sorry buddy its almost time to part with most of you.

I just finished cooking lasagna and other dinners to freeze for DH. And turns out I was not tempted by it at all. I think I have come to terms with my future.

Good luck to my fellow aug 5th sleevers. We aren't alone. I will try to keep updated.

Oh yeah I also took a couple before pictures.......lets just say I will wait to post them till I look a hell of alot better!!!!! LOL :P

This exactly how I'm feeling; "come to terms with my future". I haven't packed, not real sure I'm going to do any packing. I have crystal light, chapstick, gas-x, and travel toothpaste/brush in my purse. I'm going to wear home what I wear to the hospital and as long as I have my phone I've got all the entertainment I might want. All I will be carrying extra is a pillow to use as abdominal support as I get up and down. Good luck and remember to walk and sip, walk and sip. Just a short while and we will all be on the other side.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
