Terry, I'm so sorry. I was recently reading "Chicken Soup for the Cat and Dog Lovers". One person said that God in his infinite wisdom made animals' lives shorter than humans because he knew we couldn't handle the grief of having them for a longer period of time.

Neicy, you and your man are so cute.... and your babies are ALL beautiful.. I know you are a proud grandma...

thanks New Hope.. I truly , truly, truly loved her... choking again. But I am blessed to have had her undying love. You should have seen how she acted around me... So my tears are of joy and loss. I held her as she went and I know she knew it.

I've been too busy to follow all the posts, but I love the pics, and Tinkie is so cute! Spray her with pledge and push her around the floor!

Terry, I also want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I am going through some "anticipatory grief" for my dog who has congestive heart failure. The loss of an animal companion is a true death in the family, with feelings just as strong. I am glad you can comfort yourself (well, at least in part) with the knowledge of how lucky you are to have had her love.

Nancy

Oh, and Marie, I bought that book, chicken Soup for the Animal Lover's Soul, one time when I was feeling low. I thought it would be full of warm fuzzies. I read the first few pieces and they all seemed to be about animals dying. I cried my eyes out!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
