A little over 4 months. 100lbs down!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved March 18, 2013. This has been an amazing journey so far. I had my first encounter with an old coworker since my surgery, and she literally didn't know who I was standing right in front of her. I get comments like, "Well, you're just withering away aren't you...". It's been sooooo nice. I never imagined this could be my life. I remember telling my Mom I was so nervous about getting surgery, because I was scared I was going to die. I had wanted to be "skinny" my entire life, and knowing this surgery was going to eventually help me achieve this... It seemed to good to be true. Well... I didn't die! I'm not by any means skinny... But I sure am on the right track to being healthy! Here's my before and after! Sw:305 Date of surgery: 292 Cw:203 Age:25 Height:5'4 The picture on the left is actually in April, 3 weeks AFTER surgery.

I don't know what to say. Everybody took all the good words :). You look great. Would luv to gear about your surgery, etc, especially your diet and exercise over those 4 months. I'm getting sleeved Thursday and I'm praying for the same results :)

These pics inspire me. I'm 11 days post op and have lost only 4 lbs in those 11 days. I know it will get better when I'm able to put in the time at the gym. Not gonna get down about it-I know it will come off. Congrats in your awesome loss!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
