natynat22 95 Posted August 4, 2013 When anyone Had the steri strips did they ever get bloody? And did you take your bandaids off them? I took off the bandaids after I took a shower for the first time so they didn't get all wet and gross. The one that's the ugliest is where they took my stomach. Just dried blood around it but just wondering thanks!

Daydra 345 Posted August 4, 2013 Yeah. I'm 11 days out and they're still on and are basically coated in dried blood. I kept them covered with waterproof bandages for the first week, just to protect them, but it turns out I'm allergic to the adhesive on the bandaids I used. (I was wondering why I was so itchy...) Ugly, but as they should be, it sounds.

Only took about a week to get better but shees. Mine came off one at a time, the last at almost three weeks. 1 Daydra reacted to this

At least they don't itch anymore... :-) 1 ChaoticBliss reacted to this

SarahBeth1217 19 Posted August 5, 2013 See mine were freakig me out too!!! My entire body itches?!? Is it the pain meds??? The pain meds can definitely make your whole body itch. I also have that problem in addition to the itchy steri-strips. Try some liquid Benadryl. It helps some. But be careful because it can make you drowsy and if the pain meds do the same thing it might be too much. Maybe talk to your Dr or pharmacist first. But, if you're like me and the pain meds have no effect on you then you're probably safe. Still talk to your Dr or pharmacist first. :-P
melis56914 26 Posted August 5, 2013 I'm 6 weeks out and my belly button incision is still painful at times. It looked the worst right after surgery and I didn't take the bandage off of that one til about 3 weeks after surgery because it was too sensitive until then. mirabelle 64 Posted August 7, 2013 Had to share this! Went to see my surgeon for follow up today and as he is examining my belly I hear and feel this rrrriiiiippppp! He pulled the steri-strips off!!!!! Shocked the heck out of me and it kinda smarted a bit, I had to laugh after though because of this thread. I did learn something valuable Once they come off get that sticky residue off of your skin ASAP. I left the docs office and went home. Shortly thereafter I went to adjust my running pants and......they were STUCK TO MY INCISIONS! Yowzah! 1 Daydra reacted to this
