Yeah! they taste like slim Jim's (meat sticks)

There is a deal at Bariatric Choice (the free shipping is done though unless you order $49)

For 10 dollars for 30 dollars worth of stuff.

Don't buy the Protein Cookies though!! They are too good :P

You might get more replies in the PRE-Operation Gastric Sleeve Surgery (VSG) Questions & Answers or food & Nutrition forums. Your question was posted in Gastric Sleeve Surgery (VSG) Success Stories.

At four weeks, the surgery is still healing. Eating foods or quantities not on your program increases the risk of surgical failure, such as a leak. Each Dr. sets a program based on their experience, how they cut the sleeve, the aftercare program they are using (which, in my opinion, is why many Dr.s in Mexico have a more stringent plan following surgery - you probably aren't going back for after care).

In addition, most people can't eat much in the first months post-op. Choosing nutritionally void foods doesn't leave room for the important nutrients provided by food on the post-op plan.

I would consider counseling to help learn to deal with cravings. At some point, the sleeve can only take us so far.

Best wishes on your journey,

Lynda

laura - I see your 4 boxes of pepper Ostrim and raise you 5 boxes of teriyaki Ostrim. Yup, the motherlode just came in yesterday. :) that stuff is gold for VSG snackers. I bet kristi made like 5000 dollars in rewards from all our VST orders last week !! ;)

I tell you fiddle, my husband just came home from work and ate one for the first time and said "awesome snack for mountain biking!"

I guess he's tired of stealing my premier shakes for riding!! 0_o

A note to the OP on Ramen - watch out for the high fat and sodium in those. They are somewhat good for tight budgets if you cannot afford anything else, but if you can, there are much better nutritional choices from low carb Protein Bars to small amounts cheese to apples with nut butter to Ostrim sticks to beef Jerky to...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
