I haven't tried paleo bread yet, but I bought a paleo cookbook called Well Fed. It seems to me that the paleo way of eating fits in pretty well with our post-op guidelines. We've made a few things so far & all were good. Last week, my hubs actually made the olive oil mayo from the book & it is amazing. I've used in several different things this week already.

Well you are free to eat anything you want, BUT make it Protein first, then fruits and veggies, and then, if you have any room, carbs (even complex ones). "Anything" includes a buncha stuff that you want to still avoid to lose weight, IMHO.

I do realize this. I assumed with us all having a new lifestyle everyone would know what I meant. I didn't mean I was going to go have chili cheese fries or a funnel cake. Thanks for the advice though. I am still having a rough time getting in all my Proteins since I can't drink a Protein drink- they make me sick. So, I do eat my protein first at all of my meals each day. I am just scared to eat anything at this point!

Well damn I was just going to suggest chili cheese fries for your protein! :P

I'm assuming you wanted paleo bread just to eat? Not necessarily protein?

Bread sits real heavy and swells in the stomach so I'm not sure about it at this point but, you can always try.

Paleo the new buzz word in diets so be aware of the marketing of paleo items such as bread..

As far as protein you seem far enough out that the shakes can be sidelined, I eat a Fage 2% daily with stevia or Splenda and frozen blueberries for 20 grams of protein.

Plenty of high protein foods out there!

I don't really eat bread anymore, now I eat kims magic pops. Yummy, crunchy, and holds my tuna, hummus or sliced meats very well :)

Paleo bread made with mostly almond meal should be okay. Coconut flour can be very very absorptive. It is also tremendously high in Fiber. Not sure which recipe that one is. I do paleo and haven't done alot in the bread section, so can't help there. But do be aware of the flours qualities. Most paleo bread is going to be high in Protein and fat, lower carb. But can be a potential carb bomb if heavy in sweeteners like honey, etc.

This particular one doesn't have any sweetener in it and is made with almond flour.

As long as you don't have trouble eating almonds :D Since almond meal is just ground up almonds. I wouldn't think it would be harmful as far as expansion goes. Just make sure the rest of the ingredients aren't expansive. Since the "white" stuff is usually refined wheat/grain based foods and high in carbs, I don't think paleo bread is really a "white" food, if you see what I mean.

Was that clear as mud or what? Hope it makes sense. I usually equate white foods as processed foods. If you are eating paleo, you are NOT eating processed. Feel so much better eating this way.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
