OMG! Please tell me i wont go bald

Recommended Posts

I'm two month out and my hair starting falling out A LOT! I'm scare to go bald or have bald spots. Right now it's not noticeable because I have full thick hair, but at the rate I'm loosing my hair I'm afraid it's going to be noticeable soon. Can some one who's gone through it tell me does its stop on its own, or what did you do to make it stop other than shaving my head lol it wouldn't be pretty. All joking aside I'm worry. Please advise :(

You won't go bald. It might seem to you like you're losing a lot, but people normally lose between 200-300 hairs a day normally. It slows down and then stops. I take Biotin (10,000 per day) and I used a thickening Shampoo. Breathe, relax and know that this will pass and people won't even notice.

You won't go bald. A lot of people find cutting it short helps to hide the thinning. I cut mine before it fell out really bad and donated to Locks of Love. I felt better to go to something useful than down the drain. I hope yours stops falling out soon. Mine fell between month 3-6 now it's growing back in. It is part of the process :)

Mine fell out from month 4 to about 7 1/2. I take 10,000 mg Biotin and used Nioxin Shampoo, Conditioner and drops. Unfortunately it happens to most of us but it does finally stop at some point.

You are fortunate that you have thick hair to start off with. Mine has always been baby fine and very thin so I am experiencing some real sparse areas but have been wearing my hair up to camoflouge it. I have a dr appt this next week to talk about what to do. If he tells me anything different than I am doing (biotin, Vitamins, Protein, special shampoo) I will let you guys know. Other than that, look into a cute hat! haha I am! I wouldnt trade what weight I have lost for keeping my hair though! feeling great and so much healthier! Hoping your Hair loss stops soon! I know it is a horrible feeling but concentrate on getting fit and healthy!

Protein! That is what my surgeon has recommended to maintain my hair. I had surgery last year, not WLS. My hair fell out for a couple months in handfuls. I bawled my eyes out every morning when I took a shower and saw all the hair coming out. I even had to call a plumber out cause my pipes backed up. Lol. All craziness aside, it stopped. My surgeon at the time said it was just my body responding to the trauma of surgery. Good news, I have a ton of new growth and besides having to put an extra twist in my ponytail band, you would never know I lost so much hair. Now preparing for surgery, I already know it will happen again. So I am dedicated to getting my Protein up as quickly as possible to minimize the Hair loss. My hair stylist also recommends washing your hair every other day. You can get a dry Shampoo if your hair get that oily look if you don't wash everyday like I do. Biotin supplements and a vinegar rinse will also help the hair you do have and maintain a good scalp to help encourage new Hair growth. Best o luck!

Doe's Biotin help with hair loss after VSG surgery?

It doesn't help increase Hair growth but it helps keep the hair you do have strong and healthy.

I really don't think protein has anything to do with it. I am 4 months post op, I get all my protein and Water and my hair is falling out in clumps. I think either your hair falls out or it doesn't. It is you and your luck.

I take in about 90 grams of Protein a day every day and take Vitamins, I thought I wasn't getting enough so I up it, but I think your body really only absorb so much protein in a day. I will try the Biotin and Shampoo. Will keep you posted

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
