Hello Everyone,

I am hoping for a December surgery. All I have left are 3 more weigh in's, then it's up to my insurance for approval. I am really hoping that this comes through. My Dr. told me to come into the office after my November weigh in and speak with the scheduler to book it. I am ready for the change!!!! Good luck everyone here is to a fabulous new 2014 for us!

Make sure to hold onto the awesome book they give you. It's got a ton of great info, including some really good recipe ideas for the various phases. Not to mention a food log that I copied and made so I can keep a daily log...helps me make sure I'm eating the Protein, etc., that they want.

Also, the nurses there are all nice, but if you see a British nurse named Helen, tell her Justin with the beard said "hi" and he's doing well :)

So I'm definitely scheduled for Dec 7th yaaaaahhhh. I'm getting excited knowing the surgery is getting closer and everything is going as planned so far. Some days I'm a little nervous but most days I'm just very excited and can't wait for the surgery to happen. Have a Great Day everyone and I hope all your dreams come true. Lynnette

I have 1 and a half pound left before I have reached my pre op goal. I am super early and I imagine it's going to be hard trying to maintain my weight till the end of November.

One negative thing about going self pay (well, besides having to pay for everything out of pocket lol) is not having a defined diet ahead of time. My doc told me to just not gain between now and December. I think I am going o start incorporating shakes into my diet now - not as a total replacement but to just start getting used to them. Going to pick up some of the Premier Protein at costco that everyone raves about.

Some Dr's give you a defined diet even if you do self pay but you can go to Amazon and get the book '' the big book On the gastric sleeve''. It supposedly has everything you want to know about the gastric sleeve And its only ten dollars. I have it I just haven't started reading it yet. Any way we can get some info in here also. We continue moving forward and getting closer every day. Whooop whooop. Lynnette

Yep, I picked that up already. Not a bad reference. Especially for $10 - gotta love kindle.

Tried the Premier Protein drink - wow, so that's what 30 grams of Protein feels like lol. Not bad but would be better with a sugar free shot of Torani Syrup.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
