Hey, maybe someday you will be able to buy a home tongue stamper model for $ 19.99 from the kitchen section of Bed Bath and Beyond or from an As seen on TV store! Lol.

I think the premise of the diet, is that when you chew and swallow food, it inflicts excruciating pain.

Making it only possible to do a liquid diet...

Yeah, Can you say milkshake? :P

This made me laugh out loud!

I watched this today and was shocked at first. Then, I was thinking back to the years of being fat and remembering the desperation I felt and how I would do almost anything to lose the weight. Who knows I might have done something like that years ago. I may have even tried the feeding tube thing. As crazy as it sounds, and it those things do sound crazy to me, the desperation of wanting to be thin takes over and I can understand why they did it.

I was crazy enough to go to Mexico to have surgery!:)

Well' date=' I don't understand the logic, but maybe 'pattern-interruptus' works. Also a LOT of commercials on the east coast for something you swallow that swells up in your stomach so "you literally can't eat". Imagine what THAT would do to our sleeve -- EEK!!![/quote']

I think that's the full bar. I forgot to list those on the tried and failed diet techniques I used per-op. they didn't keep me full and they tasted like stale rice crispier with some other yucky stuff.

Why not just do the liquid diet without the patch?!?

For the same reason we got the sleeve to teach us how to control and form new eating habits. Do you see both are just different approaches to solving the same problem with eating too much?

Did anyone else wonder how gross it must be under that patch its taken off? Imagine all the yuck from the drinks that is stuck underneath the patch! I would think it would be an infection waiting to happen.

Right, but the patch gets removed after a month. They're not really comparable.

Just goes to show if you build a crazy contraption and say you'll lose weight, people will come and buy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
