Surgeon recommended drinking a few sips of Pickle Juice twice day to help with acid and "foamies". Weird but it totally works. I haven't had any nausea, no vomitting, and no need for meds other than my prilosec since I started drinking it.

Might be helpful to anyone who is struggling with acid or nausea or bloating after eating.

I can now drink all my liquid requirement and all the Protein requirement. This is huge for me since I have not been able to meet either since surgery June 28th. I'm feeling so much better.

Yep. Dill Pickle Juice. I pour half a shot glass and sip it over a couple of minutes. This totally works. I imagine green olives would do the same. I have been miserable for 5 weeks. This has been the only thing that works. And I don't wake up at 4am anymore either.

Wow. That's a new one to me and I've been reading this board for almost three years now. Glad you are feeling better!

So wish I would known this sooner. I'm 6 weeks out and I was soooo nauseous about a week ago that even looking at food made me sick. Thank u for the pointers, I sure will remember it if it happens again.

when I saw this blog I thought the pickle was slang for something else. Glad though that something is helping when there is some acid issues.

I have had family members bring their hospitalized loved ones Pickle Juice for leg cramps. It's always been a home remedy and it works. Didn't know it would help with reflux. Will keep that in mind.

Hmh. I wonder if this is why pregnant women crave dill pickles? <off topic> Personally, I craved watermelon. My poor ex had to try and find some for me in the middle of winter. And that was back in the days when you couldn't find a watermelon in the winter </off topic>

My hubby is out trying to find prepackaged little containers of pickles so I can bring them on our Cabo trip tomorrow. Doubt there are pickles in Mexico.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
