July 26 plastics... Updates:)

Thanks for answering me. I have a friend that would go but the finances is on me. Now that My personal cost may be more than i originally planned' date=' i cant afford anyone else, so alone I go. Unless the hubby can go to. I'm getting excited to go.

Thanks Michelle[/quote']

No problem:) like I sd I was sooo worried about going alone, but it really was a worry for nothing. I had the same issue. I had some that would go but I had to pay, and that really wasn't an option for me. I could not afford it. So I just made sure I had all the contact info for the clinic and hotel, the dr called back home to tell them how the surgery went and that I was ok. I made sure I had everything packed that I would need. My cell provider actually didn't work there so I got the textnow free app on my phone that works with wifi so I could message everyone when I was feeling better. And the rest... Was all taken care of:) it's the absolute best thing I could have ever done and would do it 1000 times over!!

I will be having a tt' date=' panni and Lipo. Please tell me, in detail, about the pain, drain care, recovery, care of skin around drains, incision care etc.... Need to be as mentally prepared as possible. If you have pics of incisions and where the drains come out, that would be helpful, too. I gross out easily and pass out, so want to desensitize myself as much as possible. I live alone and don't want to pass out and be unconscious on the floor, LOL! [/quote']

I have another post "traveling for Ps alone" in this forum I did comment alot about my recovery and what to expect and my experience. You could look at that to:)

Michelle, I have waffled about the thigh lift. Dr S thought I could do the "small" lift but local surgeons said I need the long incision which of course leaves a pretty bad scar. I was looking at your photos and noticed you got the "small" and wondering if you are feeling pretty good about it.

My current plan is NO thigh lift, get everything else done and then think about it. If the small would do the job, well, I might change my mind.

Here is a before picture, i think my thighs are alot worse then your started out though...

that is exactly how my thighs are!! Could be my pic, lol

Thank you so much Michelleandcolten!! I will be looking at your pics frequently, so hopefully I will not pass out while caring for my drains/incisions. Did you need help, in the first few days, to get in/out of bed? out of a chair? were you able to do stairs? BTW, You look terrific in those jeans, bet it feels amazing!

In the hospital it was a lift bed so it was easier to sit up with buttons and just going slowly getting into the standing hunched over position. I was able to sleep in a recliner on day 3 and having the arms of the chair to push myself up. By day five I was able to lay on a bed and use my arms to push up behind me to get into a sitting position. And swing my legs over the bed. Again slowly getting up. Once I was up I was fine and did daily walks to the mall beside the hotel. So it is not as bad as it sounds. Lol. I got home on day 11 and I have stairs. It was slow but I did manage to do them. Thank you:) I am proud of fitting in my jeans. I would do it 1000 times over. I love my results.

Lol I just answered you on your post:) yes they do go away (in general) numbness can stay in areas if nerves were disrupted and don't heal up the same way. It is really annoying to begin with but you do get used to it. My 3 c-section 6.5 yrs ago left me with numbness that never came back, but after a while I didn't even notice it:)

I will only have a 23hr hospital stay, then am on my own. My sis will be around to help. I don't have stairs to get in my apt. but I like to go upstairs and hang with my sis. Wonder how long before I'll be able to go up the stairs. I don't have a recliner, so hopefully will be able to sleep/get in or out of my bed. My bed is a bit higher than a regular bed, so maybe that will be helpful when getting up. I have a high pain tolerance and heal well, so hopefully my recovery will go as well as yours. Even if it is MUCH worse, will STILL be worth it when all is said and done!! :D

A coworker of mine works for a plastic surgeon and she recommends renting a recliner for the first week or two. It might be something to look into.

:)

Good luck and keep us posted! I love this thread!!

I also slept on the couch which I found more comfortable than a recliner as you can still prop yourself up and use the arm and back of the couch to push yourself up. I did small stairs (out of the hotel) by day three. But very very slow and in movements that didn't cause discomfort or pulling. You will find what works best for you. But be sure your not dizzy or lightheaded as you don't want to fall. The bed at the hotel was higher as well and mine is to for that matter. I found it easier to get out of but getting up I needed to put my heel on the frame and boost up (mind you I'm only 5'3" lol)

And some people's drains are in for much longer. I asked Dr S about staying an extra week till the drains are gone and he said there is no guarantee they will all be gone even at 2.5-3 weeks... so GO HOME WOMAN...haha!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
