ReadyNewM3 112 Posted August 2, 2013 My surgeon told me that he can't do my gallblader and sleeve surgeries at the same time because both surgeries at the same time could has high risk of complications. ...so, hum, I did all of my pre op tests, and now, I will have next tuesday my gallbladder surgery(no with my sleeve dr),then in 3 weeks I will meet my sleeve surgeon for my last visit.... I'm still confuse about it....,any advise or opinion about that?
JerseyGirl68 1,172 Posted August 2, 2013 I was originally scheduled to have my sleeve and gall bladder done together, Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia half way through and they had to stop before I got sleeved... I went back a month later to finish up. My "complication" was just one of those things the surgeon said and had nothing to do with getting both done, they actually think it had to do with my taking an antihistamine the night before surgery. What added complications are they worried about?
SuzyB 182 Posted August 2, 2013 I would be asking why? It seems many have both done at the same time. There may be a very good reason why, but it could be a $ issue. 2 surgeries more money
ReadyNewM3 112 Posted August 2, 2013 He doesn't tell me about specific "complications".... and I asked! , but I would luke to know more about it.....thanks for answer !!
NoneYa 380 Posted August 2, 2013 Its very common to do both. I would be looking for another surgeon for a 2nd opinion if he can't give me very good reasons because unless there is something unique to your anatomy it can be done. More $ for him to separate, much less money and only 1 anesthesia for you if done together. 1 jensjoy28 reacted to this
