The difference between lose and loose...

Recommended Posts

While we're on this topic can we have a quiet chat about they're (they are), there (a place or direction), their (belonging to a person), where (a place or time), we're (we are) and were (reference to a past tense event).

That's all I'm saying.

Can we add too, to, and two because that drives me nuts TOO!

I can't keep quiet any longer. Your (eat your veggies) You're (you're about to eat your veggies)

Whew! That feels better! :D

Yes, I am with all of you on those, too!

Just gotta laugh sometimes. Sometimes my typos are because my brain goes faster than I can type....

So true! I just did it in another post where I replied to someone. I did lol at myself. I didn't proof read it, I was tired and was typing fast and wrote lose instead of loose! I understand those things happen. I rarely rant and rave, usually I let things slide and not get to me. I must have been in a bit of a snarky mood yesterday when made this topic.:)

I come off here as a lousy speller. The fact is that my ipad for reasons of its own changes my spellings. it joins words, drops letters. changes spellings and adds/deletes caps at will. If there is spell check on it I have yet to discover it. Sometimes I click "post" without first checking it. I used to be mortified when later I would look back on it and see the terrible typos, including loose-lose. Now, not so much.

This is a help forum and there are people from many backgrounds and levels of education here. I do think it's kind of mean to point out the grammar mistakes of others in a help forum. Some people have issues they struggle with and those people should be able to ask or answer a question without fear of being ridiculed. I personally know someone that would get a great deal out of this forum and be able to contribute greatly due to her unique history but will not try. She came and read through many threads and decided that it wasn't worth the risk of embarrassment. She shouldn't have to feel that way, not in the adult world.

LOSE is the word to use when you are trying to LOSE weight.

LOOSE is the word to use when your clothes are getting LOOSE while you are losing weight.

LOSING is the word to use when you are in the process of LOSING weight.

LOSER is the word to use when you think you are a slow LOSER.

LOOSER is the word to use when your pants are LOOSER than they were before you lost weight.

No' date=' I am not the grammar police. Yes, you can search my posts and I am sure you will find many grammar errors.

Seriously, this is a weight loss forum and it drives me crazy when people do not know the difference between lose and loose.

Ok, my rant is over...[/quote']

LOLOL!

Which is why I put this in the Rants and Raves section of this forum:

Vertical Sleeve Talk Rants & Raves

Want debate? Get it here. Gripe, complain, moan, fight, rant and rave. Enter at your own risk!

OK, not a problem. You put it in the Rants section because you can. I voiced my opinion on it because I can. No biggy. I just don't think its cool to be mean or hurtful to others and its certainly not funny. Just my opinion and I'll bet the world will continue to spin even though it differs from yours. Its all good.

And because it's my birthday, can we ask every adult NOT to use "text talk" for the next 24 hours? Seriously, once you are over the age of 16, is it so hard to type your words out?

LL, HB2U! hope u have a gr8 day!

The fact of the matter is we are all human. We make mistakes on a daily basis!

Life is short...we are fat.... And we can't spell!

I don't know about you, but I'm working on the not being fat thing, spelling can wait or should I say weight :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
