The difference between lose and loose...

Recommended Posts

LOSE is the word to use when you are trying to LOSE weight.

LOOSE is the word to use when your clothes are getting LOOSE while you are losing weight.

LOSING is the word to use when you are in the process of LOSING weight.

LOSER is the word to use when you think you are a slow LOSER.

LOOSER is the word to use when your pants are LOOSER than they were before you lost weight.

No, I am not the grammar police. Yes, you can search my posts and I am sure you will find many grammar errors.

Seriously, this is a weight loss forum and it drives me crazy when people do not know the difference between lose and loose.

Ok, my rant is over...

omgeeeee. Every time I read people's post that say, "why am I a slow looser?"...gah it drives me up the wall! I understand, totally. I've always wanted to be like...it is loser...looser is like when something is not so tight, but never did. Thank you for posting.

bwuahahahaha

this is a weight loss forum so we should know the difference between loser, looser, losing etc. I mean it is on the mind 24/7 and part of the daily vocabulary.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves, but I admit I've seen people mistake the two for so long that whenever I type out that I'm losing weight I second guess myself and have to make sure I don't really mean loosing. Argh.

While we're on this topic can we have a quiet chat about they're (they are), there (a place or direction), their (belonging to a person), where (a place or time), we're (we are) and were (reference to a past tense event).

That's all I'm saying.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
