Weight Loss on The View

Recommended Posts

Joy and Rosie interviewed two women who lost over 350 pounds combined through diet and exercise. When the second woman was interviewed, Joy asked her why she didn't take the easy way out and have surgery mentioning gastric bypass or the lapband. Clearly, she has no experience with these surgeries or the work required to get the weight off and keep it off.

Those women may have lost 350 pounds combined, but within 5 years, they will gain it all back, and Rosie and Joy take that to the bank.

I agree, they talked like it was a bad thing to have WLS!!!!! I mean, the second girl obvously had plastic surgery to remove excess skin, Did they ask her about that? No. I guess they think that all fat people can't make babies or birth them.

It really sounded like they did not interview them before they came on stage. That might have been a good idea!

Whatever, we all know that it is not the easy way out.

Yeehaw that was my first thought when the second girl came out. She had plastic surgery I'm sure of it. Her tummy was way to flat.

I was soo annoyed by that segment. The easy way out... yeah because surgery is soo easy and the weight magically falls off. They should do some research before they bash WLS. And was it me or was the first woman very arrogant. She acted like she knew everything about weightloss while in my own mind i thought she could stand to lose some more, maybe I'm just being mean now.

I was soo mad when I watched that segment. They kept repeating "the easy way out". I exercise 6 days a weeks. I have to make healthy food choices or the weight is not coming off. GB is soooo different than lap band that they shouldn't even put them in the same catagory. All the calories we eat are absorbed. This is a tool as is having a c-section instead of natural childbirth, using pain medication instead of just living with the pain, radiation to get rid of cancer. I wonder if rosie is less of a mother because she didn't go through 9 months of emotional ups and downs and bodychanges like some of us did to get our kids. She use the tool of adoption and that seems alot easier than my 15hours of labor. Our society has made tools for everyone to help them in some way or another and to make life more pleasant. The roads may be different but the struggles to get their the same. No one person should be judged for their path.

Who knows…maybe it's their little secret way of 'cutting at Starr Jones'. That show is so catty these days, nothing would surprise me. :bored

Consider the source. They're both hacks. And Rosie's big ass of all people has some nerve. I can't stand that sow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
