Recommended Posts

I'm 2 months post OP and I've lost 43lbs but I'm so scared I'm not gonna hit my first goal. I started at a size 24 & I need to be a size 18 by sept 13th. Im in my brothers wedding and my bridesmaids dress is a 18. That's actually like a 16 in normal sizes. Im so scared im not gonna make it. I lost 4 inches in my hips but I need to lose 5 more in 6 weeks.

Sorry you've been put or put yourself into a deadline. Not that it won't happen but would think the stress of thinking about it would be tough. Just make sure you're following all your guidelines. Hope it all works out for you!

I'm almost 9 months out- I had 113 lbs to lose. I lost the first 50 in 2.5 months. I have lost the next 42 over the next 7 months. I'm still losing- it is just much slower. That being said- I've dropped clothing sizes pretty quickly!

Well I'm prolly in between a 20_22 depending on the brand of jeans. And I'm down 43lbs in 2 months but I want another 30 off in 6 weeks. Id love to be 200lbs our just under for the wedding.

I am 4 months PO and have lost 75 lbs. so far. I noticed that I starting stalling when I added in fruit and vegetables so I cut the amounts of those and try to stick to mainly Protein.

Did you actually try on the dress or just order it at an 18? Just curious. you said an 18 is more like a 16 in real clothes sizes. I think it's more like a 10! 18 mths ago, I got down to my lowest adult size (post lapband - before it slipped) which was 144. When I went in to get fitted for my wedding dress (an actual bridesmaid dress, not a white gown - heck, I'm 46! And 2nd wedding), they measured me. The top half measured a 16 and the bottom half measured a 4. And I was wearing a size 8/10 at the time.

Not sure why the bridal world has so much difference in sizing. needless to say, they had to tailor my dress alot. most of my weight is on top and I had to order a 16.

Just thought I'd check to see if you knew...

Haven't tried it on yet but have measurements for the size 18 & I'm not there. I still have like 4 inches to lose in my butt and hips. The top already needs taking in. I'm bigger on bottom.

Is it an aline? If so- you might get lucky :). And I will say the measurements never match! I just had to buy a formal dress for a black tie wedding. After looking online- my busy measurement puts me in a size 20, my waist at a 12 and my hips at a 16. However- I was in 10's solidly and even needed a 6 in one dress.

Its more empire waist. Tight and pulled around stomach, strapless top. Its a shorter dress not floor length.

You may get lucky :). Can you try on the dress in another size maybe like a 20 and see how it fits?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
