Ms. Mannix 21 Posted August 1, 2013 Please help. I'm 2 days post op & I am having a difficult time getting liquids down, Before I left the hospital yesterday, I was instructed to swallow mouthfuls of liquid. THIS was not a good idea, because the liquids seemed to sit on my chest & make me hurt & take longer to go down. Now that I've decided to sip them, I have to make myself burp immediately after swallowing, then take a deep breath for the liquid to go down. This kicks in the feeling of me feeling nauseated. Is this normal or is this blockage. Please help me, I'm freaking out. 1 Travelbug1955 reacted to this

caramellhoney 6 Posted August 1, 2013 Sounds like a good way to swallow a lot of air. 3 Travelbug1955, Ms. Mannix and TwinsMama reacted to this

TapSnap 357 Posted August 1, 2013 I am 6 months out and still can't do full mouth fulls of liquids without having tightness in the chest. you should be doing sips not mouthfuls. seems like a good way to hurt yourself. 2 Travelbug1955 and Ms. Mannix reacted to this

MIJourney 490 Posted August 1, 2013 At 2 days out I could only take small sips and felt it each time in my chest. In my case it was pretty normal I think and not a blockage. 2 Ms. Mannix and Travelbug1955 reacted to this
vickiczyk 16 Posted August 1, 2013 At two days I could only wet my mouth, not really swallow and I had to walk around while I did that. That lasted to about day four and then I could only do one tiny sip at a time also only while standing upright. It takes time. 1 Ms. Mannix reacted to this
