I now take Mirralxx daily as recommended by my nutritionist. It's not habit forming she said. I was severly dehydrated 3days ago & had to have 2 bags of fluids. Still felt awful & bound up.

Took mirralxx and helped a lil. Finally sent hubby to store and got "Milk of magnesium". Within half an hour I felt "normal".

BUT THE PROCESS WAS AWFUL! I was sweating, shaking, seeing stars, crying.I thought I was going to pass out or die!! I ended up having TWO b.m.s the size of soda pop cans!!!! NO JOKE.

BE SURE YOU YOUR FLUIDS IN!!!

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND Get some "milk of magnesium" now if it's not to late. It was worse than labor pains. Hope this helps. I wish I had known before.

Good luck!

I swear that was my exact story a few weeks ago.....NEVER EVER AGAIN!

I had the same story and never want to be there again so I track my business like i do my H20 and Protein. One other thing i've tried is glycerin suppositories. When i feel like i have to go but can't (and i'm at home), using one of them seems to fast forward things comfortably. It gradually helps over next few hours and it doesn't hurt my stomach as the MoM or Sena tea can.

I just don't understand the Constipation thing. I'm 6weeks post op and I have yet to have a solid BM. Total diarrhea all the time. Protein Shakes take about 10 minutes then I'm in the bathroom, lactose intolerance too. I'm hoping to get to just a solid BM soon.

Are avoiding lactose? It's in many of the whey Protein drinks. Things didn't "solidify" for me till I eliminated all lactose.

Using egg white Protein shakes but they do the same thing as the whey ones. I'm still on purée til I go in tomorrow, so just getting in the Protein grams has been a challenge, so I have used cottage cheese and little bits of cheese.

Can't wait till I have the go ahead for all foods so I can get my Proteins from more diverse foods and dump the shakes in the nearest trash, lol.

Lynda, when were you able to add in cheeses again? Most people sound like its a temporary thing.

I still can't eat cottage cheese. I did well with fat free greek yogurt by the end of the second week and I could do hard cheeses by three or four weeks out. I did we'll with unjury shakes, but some people have more of an issue and even injury bothers them. Most people have their lactose issues completely resolve in the first six months. Mine is much better, but it's not gone.

This is probably way too much information, but with all of the bowel movement talk I just had a healthy one. I don't know why, but I'm glad it happened without taking a laxative!

I had this problem years before surgery. I had 4 10+ pound children which started me with problems with Constipation. The only thing that works for me is Miralax.< /span>

my dr. told me to take 2 capfuls every morning until I started to go and then cut it down to 1 cap every morning. I was doing great until a week or so after surgery

(who would guess you can get constipated just drinking fluids, but you can). Any way, used MOM until I saw my dr. 3 weeks post-op. he said I could start the Miralax again. What a relief, I go everyday atleast once, but you do have to drink atleast 64 ounces of Fluid everyday or you can get dehydrated very easy on Miralax.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
