dixiejuju 15 Posted July 30, 2013 Is anyone post op drinking sodas? What do we know they will do besides put weight back on? Do we know for certain they stretch ur sleeve??
NoneYa 380 Posted July 30, 2013 I don't think they know anything. I think they advise against it because they see a risk that it could stretch your sleeve. Some Drs don't say never again but many do because the risk is too great for them I think. I personally gave up a raging habit and have not considered picking it back up. 5 DeezJeanz, Txcowgurl, Butterthebean and 2 others reacted to this
Malugo 31 Posted July 31, 2013 My Nut told me only if they are flat will be ok to drink them.
mokee 588 Posted July 31, 2013 I am 8 months out and occasionally have a diet soda. It gives me a lot of gas but other than that I am fine. As far as stretching goes, I don't think anyone knows for sure.
JoannLz 62 Posted July 31, 2013 My doc said no more ever. Cause the gas will strech your sleeve. And if you try it to early on it can cause a leak. Yah I'm doing so good I do not want to risk it. So I have made my mind up no more coke for ever !! ; (

karpouzian 94 Posted July 31, 2013 I used to drink at least. 2 liter of diet soda a day... I don't drink any anymore. Sometimes it isn't convenient, but I'm probably a better person for it.
ashelaine 383 Posted July 31, 2013 I've had it on a few occasions. No issues- unfortunately... lol. My dr. Recommends a drink called sparkling ice if you want the bubbles- it's lightly carbonated.
SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm allowed any diet beverage and that includes sodas. I was told to wait 6 weeks before trying a soda though. I was also warned that some people don't tolerate soda and if it caused discomfort that I shouldn't partake (duh) I don't have soda frequently because I don't see it as something that is healthy for everyday, but an occasional diet gingerale is yummy. sharonintx 1,275 Posted July 31, 2013 I have some soda every now and then. I haven't had an issue with the sleeve stretching. What I do notice is that no matter how little I drink or how slowly I drink it, the carbonation makes me feel like a big balloon. And forget about wanting any food after having soda. It fills me up for a long time. For the most part it isn't even worth it.
NoneYa 380 Posted July 31, 2013 If I really wanted a bit of soda i would go to my soda stream and instead of tapping it for full carbonation i would tap it for very light carbonation, maybe 3 taps instead of my usual 12.
