Yeah Fiddle' date=' I love oats! Though I just eat the rolled unsweetened oats myself, but to each his own. It's really just about how they are cut or processed I guess. I also like eating mine dry and uncooked......I spoon it right out of that big Quaker cylinder.....I'm also odd like that.

What? I have never heard that before. Next you'll tell us you just SNORT the Protein powder. You're a bad dude. :)

I ate the Protein Powder raw by the spoonful once. Not a pretty sight. Only needed to do it once after the dry powder caused me to dust everything in close range with a fine dust. :)

Not hardly Butter. :). Perhaps I take the 'no liquids with food' too seriously. It's a little on the dry side.

I haven't been on here in quite some time but got on today looking for some eating before running thoughts. This is great! I'm typically running right after work and often just feel sluggish and like my feet are heavy. My Water intake is pretty good but I think my nutrition is lacking something. I'm actually wondering if I'm lacking the right carbs. One of my biggest issues is finding the time in my afternoon to have a snack with the right timing before the run. I am seeing patients all afternoon so if I get a Protein bar or string cheese in I'm doing well. I'd like to try the oatmeal but I'm just not sure I have time to do that well enough in advance of the run.

Any suggestions for pre run Snacks that I can eat like a half hour before running. I'm allergic to apples but most anything else is fair game. Thanks!

So...I tried a mouthful of oats raw...tasted like eating confetti.

Haha! At first really dry and weird, but I like the oral fixation it helps me to get through by the longest chewing of the oats. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
