Liquid Diet Day 1! How's everyone else?

Recommended Posts

So today is my first day of liquids and I'm feeling fine! I had a last meeting with my nutritionist and Pre- surgery testing... Now just the countdown to 8/13.

No appointments- no testing. Just two weeks to chill lol.

Confession: I've been fasting from sun-up to sun-down (about 17 hours with no food or drink!) for the last 20 days for religious reasons so this liquid diet is not so bad! Haha. I will miss that evening meal, though : /

How is it going for other August sleevers???

Glad to hear you are doing well!!

This is my second week of my four week pre op diet (surgery is August 16th) and I'm doing okay. Sometimes I fantasize about food lol or I will try and convince myself that I can run out for just one meal and I still have two weeks until my surgery to do just liquids but I have resisted.

On the bright side my house is VERY clean :D

I'm at day 6 of the liquid diet and it is harsh!!! I can only have 1 cup of SF jello' date=' 5 SF carnation instant breakfast, 3 SF Popsicles, and all the Water I want. -.-[/quote']

I feel your pain lol Day 2 is kicking my butt. My stomach has been grumbling... I'm going to have some broth later! I can have six Protein shakes (I'm doing Atkins Advantage & GNC lean shake) I can supplement it with broth, SF Jello, SF Popsicles & Crystal Light.

I'm day 1 and 26 to go! My band removal is 8/27 and I'm on a 4 week liquid diet. I think having the band helps because today I did fine with it. (But theres 26 days to go) Even when my husband had me drive through the taco shop so he could get a carne asada burrito. (Although I though it was pretty inconsiderate of him)!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
