visa cash card, and hotel

ok, so i know u have to give the mexican hotel your credit card when you arrive, for what ever exspenses you use, here is my question, i have heard stories about them charging xtrs money, so here it is, has anyone ever used a visa cash card? because you can put as much or as little on them as you want??

I didn't give either. They wanted it, but I hadn't called my ctefit company at the time and I didn't want my card closed
