I think at two weeks out (starting in on the third week) I was eating mushies... just starting them.

I had a week of Clear liquids

a week of full liquids

a week of Mushies

and finally a week of soft food.

One month of weird eating - and then back to "normal".

Protein and veggies first - then carbs if there is room.

The beginning of week three was mushies - refried Beans, tuna thru the food processor to a lovely paste - basically anything that doesn't require a lot of chewing. (then you chew it anyway).

Good Luck!!

Not to hijack the thread, but what is the difference between mushies and soft food? I see the nutritionist Thursday so I am sure I will find out then...just curious.

I am 3 weeks post op and am still full liquids as I was 2 days post op. I also can have yogurt, thin oatmeal or cream of wheat, and blended cottage cheese.

The info I found says that mushies (pureed foods), even if it is a soft food is supposed to be cooked to a soft texture than placed in a blender or food processor, add a liquid (such as: fortified milk, milk, broth or bouillon), and blend or process. If a preed food is put on a plate it should not spread out completely.

Soft solids are soft foods that don't need to be ran through a blender or processor to be tolerated.

I really hope that helps you.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
