I have been navigating my way through my checklist of tests that i have to complete. I just spoke to my bariatric coordinator to tell her this and she told me she hasnt received any test results on me yet. so now i am confused is it my job to gather all these reports and send them to her or is it the duty of each of the specialists that i saw to fax over the results?

I think you need to call your bariatric coordinator for that answer. Each one is probably different so I would check with the office.

I had to do that with several doctors. I wanted to have my surgery before my husband deployed so he would be there to help me, and if I had waited for all the different specialists to send in the records I probably still wouldn't have had my surgery! Because I was on such a specific time line (ended up having my surgery 10 days before he left) I got copies of the records that were needed and then hand delivered them to my bariatric coordinator. It was inconvenient, but it was the only way to ensure that they were received so my surgery could be scheduled.

Yeah, technically they are supposed to send the reports, but having worked for the past 20 years in the medical field, I know what REALLY happens, and bottom line, if you want something done, do it yourself! And don't let them tell you that you cannot get copies of your own records- you are legally entitled to them, and you just need to sign a release form to get your own copy. Some offices might be jerks and make you pay for the copies, but it should just be a few dollars.

Take the bull by the horns and handle it yourself. You know the old saying... "if you want something done right, do it yourself"! If you wait on them you could look at a very long postponement. My coordinator laughed because she had doubles on everything since I asked for copies at my visits and faxed them to her immediately, then they faxed them. I didn't want to take any chances on delays! Good luck with the paperwork! You can do it but just stay on top of it!! :P

I second what everyone said. I took copies to my Coord. it was much easier on my mind to know that she had everything she needed. And yes, there were times she had multiple copies, but I was much more at ease knowing she had my complete file.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
