I'm leaving in a couple hours for the Indy Airport

Recommended Posts

I am going to be on my way to Mexicali, and surgery with Dr. Aceves. That being said, I read part of whatever little dust-up happened over someone coming home un-sleeved. From what I read, this was her own choice.

My choice is to go forward with my trip and I will ask about his complications. There are thousands of threads on these forums and I know (even though I may not have much of a life)that I have not had time to go through all the complications, just as some people do not share their "easy" outcomes - so that others don't get the wrong idea. Could it just be possible that all the people who had complications did not post their outcomes??

You will be fine! The most dangerous part of your trip will probably be getting through the TSA at the airport!

My post was never meant to dissuade anyone from having surgery with Dr Aceves. I am sure you will do great! Good luck! ♥

My doctor, had a complication on my surgery day, the patient before me was a super morbidly obese person and she had some problems.. She's fine by the way, but I still had my surgery by a competent doctor whom I trusted, complications happen, chances are they won't happen to you. But this is life and its not prefect and no amount of money or research can change that.

By the way my surgery was in the USA,

This is life! and the benefits far outweighed the risks for me, because I was morbidly obese and would of suffered much more severe complications :)

I think it's possible people don't post about all of their complications. I would imagine had I ended up in the hospital for an extended period of time immediately post-op, my first thought wouldn't have been about posting. :) There are, though, a lot of people who have shared their experiences with complications..both US and Mexico patients.

I think that you did hit the nail on the head with the thought that not many post specifically about outcomes. I mean, I have posted when people have asked for opinions on my surgeon and I have PMed even more people who've asked about my surgeon. However, I don't routinely post that I'm feeling good and the only issue I've had post-op is kidney stones...which has absolutely nothing to do with my doctor or even WLS, but rather weight loss in general.

Oh, yes, good luck! I hope by now you may already be post-op! I hope you are feeling well. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
