Christina.v 23 Posted July 29, 2013 I'm two Weeks out and the surgeon said i can move on to soft foods. I tried tuna and used fat free mayo and left it a lil bit watery. I threw it all up, how long did it take you all to actually be able to get some solid foods down comfortably? It was even hard for me to eat a bite of a scrambled egg :/
TerryBelieves 352 Posted July 29, 2013 at 2 wks out I progressed to pureed foods, at 4 wks soft food. You might try pureed. 2 gmanbat and lifer reacted to this
pantala 125 Posted July 29, 2013 If you aren't doing well with a new food stage, it's OK to go back to the previous stage and try again in a week. It was ages before I could move from mushies to soft food and at 4 months out, I still stick with mostly soft foods. As long as you are getting your Protein, Water, and Vitamins down, let your tummy and esophagus take the time they need to heal. But do let your dr know. 1 gmanbat reacted to this
BarNone 19 Posted July 29, 2013 I am 3 weeks out and once a day I try very pureed food. Very soft and mushy. I can keep that down, so maybe you need to purée it first. Your stomach will still be sore and adjusting, so maybe go back to liquid for a few days and try again. That worked for me! Good luck on your journey Michelle
twinzrule 23 Posted July 29, 2013 Is it normal 3 weeks out I can literally eat anything? Not a lot of it cuz I get the tightness but yeah, can eat normal food just fine.., think my sleeve isn't working properly?? 1 ruchyf reacted to this
notime 340 Posted July 29, 2013 I ate part of an egg on the seventh day, but you probably need just a little more time. Perhaps you should only eat one bite and see how that goes. If it doesn't stay in you, give it another day and try a bite of something else tomorrow. Have you been able to eat nonfat no sugar added yogurt or anything like that? lsereno 2,525 Posted July 29, 2013 My program allowed many soft foods between weeks 2 and 6, but I had trouble too. I had to eat very tiny bites, chew for 30 seconds, wait 30 seconds and then another bite. I used a clock with a second hand and demitasse spoon. I could only manage about an ounce. Most of my nutrition still came from Protein drinks and greek yogurt. And like someone else noted, if something is bothering you, just drop back to your previous stage for a few days and try again. TJL 222 Posted July 29, 2013 At 2 weeks I was still on full liquads. Try the pureed foods and soft stuff. Tell your Doc that your still having a problem. Some people take longer to heal than others. Just take it slow, throwing ups not good for your incision.
May212013 8 Posted July 29, 2013 I'm two Weeks out and the surgeon said i can move on to soft foods. I tried tuna and used fat free mayo and left it a lil bit watery. I threw it all up' date=' how long did it take you all to actually be able to get some solid foods down comfortably? It was even hard for me to eat a bite of a scrambled egg :/[/quote'] It took some me sometime before I could even think of eating! I was on liquids for a long time, maybe 6 weeks and I only ate about a spoon of food every 3 days. It's funny because I felt better when I didn't eat. When I did start to it it was very very very little. I would dip my pinky into something and that would be all. I was sleeved on may 21 and I am down from 276 to 235! I hope this helps you. Do remember the best thing I can say is listen to your body. If your body is saying not yet to food then not yet! Your starting a new relationship with your body and your body is starting a new relationship with you so get to know each other listen to each other! 1 Christina.v reacted to this

It was even hard for me to eat a bite of a scrambled egg :/ It could be the mayo- mayo makes me queasy even now, almost eight weeks out. Try the tuna again in a day or two plain with no mayo, or maybe a little lemon juice.
