grassmom 21 Posted July 28, 2013 I was sleeved June 18, and stopped taking Rx NSAID two weeks prior. Consequently, my mobility has been severely impacted; trying to negotiate steps without railings is impossible, as the knee pain when I try to bend them is sharp and intense. I know I need replacements, but have to get below 250...even though I've lost nearly 40, still have 20 to go, and cannot imagine another surgery so soon after the sleeve! Had been on daily indomethacin for 10 years! Anyone else have this experience?
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted July 28, 2013 mobility has been severely impacted; grassmom Yes i had a similar issue with my weight vs knee surgery in October of 2011 my doc wanted to set me up for my 2nd knee replacement in our discussion i mentioned i was having weight loss surgery in a couple of months in so many words he said - hold the phone!!!! lets "weight"/wait LOL til you've had the surgery - lost weight i really wanted to get my knee replacement - but i knew the docs point my 5'3 frame was carrying two big bags of luggage that totalled 105 lbs I weighed 235 lbs the less you weigh the easier "things" will go basically referring to my/your long road of PT April 11th, 2012 - i finally had my knee replacement this was 4 months and 50 lbs since my original thought of having the WLS glad i had to wait - it was worth it sorry you are going through such pain congrats on losing 40 lbs thats terrific you will lose that final 20 soon - i know that doesn't help your present pain/mobility but it might give you the continued necessary encouragement to "forge" ahead your suffering now is terrible - i wish i could be there with you and squeeze your hand you have 20 lbs to lose prior to surgery your loss will be your "gain" recovery after knee replacement will go easier PT can/is quite an ordeal right after surgery BUT- since you will have lost 60 lbs total - you will have an easier time by the way, i see you now are in twoderland when was the last time you could say that???? good luck with your knee surgery you and your knees will feel so much better as you continue to lose more weight - you and your knees can "run" off into the sunset congrats take care kathy
