2 1/2 week post op indulge - crab

Recommended Posts

I want to begin by telling all of you how much these posts mean to me. I read about you day and night applauding your progress and courage- thank you!

I have just now figured out HOW to post myself lol!

I was sleeved on July 11 th n doing great.

I was experimenting w Soups to purée and made a great one that you guys may like. Recipe below. But after reading nut value of the tofu with amount digested I wanted to up the Protein level so I added a couple of Lumps of crab meat to my 1/3 cup Soup .

Questions: am I too early for crab? Will I leak ? I tried chewing well( needed something to chew!)

Am I eating too much and stretching ? Last night I felt I pigged out on almost half cup cause it was so good!

Thanks for your input !

Recipe ( didn't really measure)

Sautéed bunch of leeks, onion, garlic with olive oil. Added bout three cups veggie broth . Bag of California style veggies( carrot, broccoli, cauliflower ) frozen. Simmered down soft .

Blended can of evaporated low fat milk with package of soft silken tofu. Set aside n blended soup to purée and then added creamy tofu mixture. N added soft different seasoning sea salt n pepper etc.

It is awesome but tastes too good to be low fat n feeling like I ate much n too early to digest soft crab.

Please help

I don't know about your doctor, but mine had me on soft foods at one week. It doesn't sound as though the crab is a problem, because that is considered a soft food. If you were uncomfortable, maybe it was the amount of Soup you ate.

Thank you. Your probably right 1/2 cup is quite a bit. I have always been a fast eater. I was eating slower today n couldn't eat half of that. My doc stated only egg or two tablespoon of cottage cheese week three. I hate cottage cheese n very weary of protons drinks.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
