barbara465 2 Posted January 8, 2007 What about all the people that have other health issues? They could have cancer or something else that prohibits them from eating much. I find restaurants can and will be accommodating. The first thing should be to get what you want in the portions you want and the second consideration should be price. I don't much care about the price, but getting the right kind of food in a portion that I can eat is my goal. I don't share my medical information with anyone, let alone a restaurant. It isn't their business WHY I can't eat as much. If I can't find what I really want or need on the menu then I know I need to make a different choice of restaurants next time. Just my opinion. When I go out to eat its for social reasons so I'm willing to pay that cost.
Persistance 0 Posted January 8, 2007 I agree with Barbara. The first time I went to a restaurant after my LB I ordered just a small cup of Soup. My husband explained to the waitress that I couldn't eat much.(Bless his heart, he was trying to be kind to me) It was somehow uncomfortable. I asked him not to do it again. gadgetlady 4 Posted January 8, 2007 I eat out all the time. Probably 5 dinners a week. When I order an appetizer or just an empty plate to share from others, if I get a strange look I just say, "I don't eat much" or "I'm not a big eater." I've never had to explain anything more than that. I'm not opposed to explaining more than that; I've just never had to. As to kids meals, they're generally so unhealthy that I don't even let my kids order them!
sherilynn 1 Posted January 8, 2007 Barbara465 - I'm inquiring, as there are many places that I go now, that I will CONTINUE to go to after my band. Rodzio resturants, Japanese resturants and few buffets. I'm asking about the card, would like to have it since there is a 'set cost' per adult, lets say $60. Whereas a child may only be $17.50. I may be on my way to getting skinny....doesn't mean on my way to being rich - so any little bit helps. I'm not proud. As far as someone with cancer - my father had throat cancer. He now lives with an extremely narrow esophagus and no saliva, making meals out difficult. Resturants DO make exceptions. Well...the better ones anyway.
